Wix Studio is the better choice for agencies that ship many small-business sites: the Studio Editor is quick to learn for any designer, bookings, stores and payments are built in, client handover tools come free, and site plans start at $19 a month billed yearly. Webflow is the better choice for design-led brand and marketing sites: it gives you finer control over layout, classes and interactions, a CMS that marketing teams love, and a bigger community of specialist designers, with site plans from $15 to $25 a month plus a $16 or $35 freelancer or agency workspace.
Both are professional tools, and both produce sites that rank. This comparison is written for designers, freelancers and agencies choosing the platform they'll build client work on. If you're a business owner picking a builder for your own site, our Webflow vs Wix guide is the better read.

Design and layout: Studio Editor vs Webflow Designer
Webflow is the closer match to how the web actually works. You style with classes and combo classes, build reusable components, and lay out with flexbox and grid exactly as you would in CSS. Its Interactions editor, now powered by GSAP, handles timeline animations, scroll-triggered effects and hover states with more control than any other visual builder. Teams designing in Figma can bring work across with Figma to Webflow. The cost is the learning curve: a designer without front-end knowledge needs weeks to be fast, and badly organized classes become technical debt on larger sites.
Wix Studio trades some of that control for speed. The Studio Editor gives you grids and stacks for responsive layout and breakpoints you can tailor: desktop (1001px and up), tablet (751 to 1000px) and mobile (320 to 750px) by default, plus up to three more, defined per page and per global section. Design flows down from desktop and you override per breakpoint. Wix's AI can also make a section responsive for you. Reusable design assets and design libraries can be shared across every site in the workspace, which matters when you're building your tenth site of the year.

The practical rule: if the brief says "award-winning brand site with custom motion", pick Webflow. If it says "great-looking site for a dental clinic with online booking, live in three weeks", pick Wix Studio.
CMS and content
Both have a capable visual CMS: collections, reference fields, dynamic page templates and SEO fields bound to collection fields. The differences are limits and what sits around the CMS.
| CMS | Wix Studio | Webflow |
|---|---|---|
| Items per site | 1,500 (Basic), 4,000 (Standard), 20,000 (Plus), 10 million (Elite) | 20,000 on the Premium site plan; Basic has no CMS |
| Free/unpublished sites | Up to 10,000 items on free Studio sites | 50 items on Starter |
| Localization | Wix Multilingual | Webflow Localize (add-on) |
| Bulk content | CSV import; Velo for anything custom | CSV import; Webflow AI can generate CMS items |

Webflow's CMS is the reason so many SaaS marketing sites run on it: one template per collection (blog posts, integrations, customer stories, comparison pages) and editors who can publish without touching the design. Our guide to programmatic SEO in Webflow shows how far that goes. Wix Studio's CMS is just as usable for most client sites, and its higher limits on the Elite plan suit data-heavy builds.
Agency workflow: client feedback, handover and billing
This is where the two platforms differ most for agencies, and where Wix Studio was clearly designed around the agency business.
Wix Studio:
- Client feedback. From Client Feedback in the workspace, you generate a link (valid for two weeks) and the client comments directly on the site, without logging in, on desktop or mobile breakpoints (Wix's guide).
- Client kits. Package training videos, files and your contact details into a kit the client sees in their dashboard.
- Two editing modes for clients. Content mode lets clients update text and media without touching your design; full mode opens the whole editor, limited by the role you assign.
- Billing and the Partner Program. Manage every client's plans, domains and business email from one workspace, and earn points in the Wix Partner Program, which includes revenue share at every level and Wix Marketplace eligibility at the higher ones.
Webflow:
- Comment-only links let anyone review and comment on a site without a Webflow account.
- Content editing role lets client editors change page content, not the design, and page building lets less technical teammates assemble pages from approved blocks.
- Freelancer and Agency workspaces add free guest access to client workspaces, free client seats per site, client payments and Shared Libraries.
- Webflow Certified Partners is the route to client leads from Webflow itself.
If you hand sites over to small-business owners who will "just update the opening hours", Wix Studio's content mode and client kits are the smoother experience. If you hand them to a client's marketing team, Webflow's editor roles and page building are the better fit.
Code and extensibility
Wix Studio uses Velo: JavaScript in the editor, backend code, databases and APIs, plus the Wix CLI for developers who prefer their own IDE and Git. It's powerful but Wix-specific; your code only runs on Wix.
Webflow lets you embed custom code anywhere, build code components (React components you use in the Designer, on the Premium site plan), sync design systems into React apps with DevLink, and host full-stack apps alongside the site with Webflow Cloud. Paid workspace plans such as Core include code export of the site's static HTML, CSS and JavaScript, though CMS content and hosting features don't come with it.
For developer-heavy agencies, Webflow's ecosystem is the more open of the two. For agencies that mostly need forms, bookings and payments, Wix's native apps mean less code to write in the first place.
SEO and performance
Neither platform will hold your clients back in Google. Both give you editable titles and descriptions, clean URLs, automatic sitemaps, robots.txt control, canonical tags, 301 redirects and structured data. Webflow now auto-generates schema markup and offers an AI-powered SEO and AEO audit; Wix offers its SEO Setup Checklist, a URL Redirect Manager that creates redirects automatically when you change most page slugs, custom JSON-LD per page and Wix's AI Visibility Overview that tests a brand in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.
On speed, real-user data favors Wix slightly: in the HTTP Archive Core Web Vitals report for September 2026, 80.9% of Wix sites and 71.3% of Webflow sites passed all three Core Web Vitals on mobile. (The report doesn't separate Wix Studio sites from other Wix sites.) On either platform, heavy animation and oversized images are what fail sites, not the platform.
What moves rankings for client sites is content. Outrank publishes researched, internally linked articles straight to Wix and Webflow blogs every day, and agencies running many client sites get volume pricing. In our study of 2,119 sites, 92% of the 48 Wix sites and 72% of the 67 Webflow sites grew their Google clicks after they started publishing with Outrank. Agencies using it include Bright Brands, a web design agency whose impressions grew from 8,676 to 296,210 between May 2025 and May 2026.
Pricing: what client sites cost on each platform
As of October 2026, from Wix Studio's plans page and Webflow's pricing page, in US dollars, billed yearly:
| Wix Studio site plan | Per month | Includes |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | $19 | 10 GB storage, 3 collaborators, 1,500 CMS items |
| Standard | $27 | Accept payments, 50 GB, 5 collaborators, 4,000 CMS items |
| Plus | $34 | 120 GB, 10 collaborators, 20,000 CMS items, priority support |
| Elite | $159 | Unlimited storage, 100 collaborators, 10 million CMS items |
The Wix Studio workspace itself is free: Wix says no additional payment is required, you only pay for site plans.
| Webflow plan | Per month | Includes |
|---|---|---|
| Basic site | $15 | Custom domain, 300 static pages, no CMS |
| Premium site | $25 | CMS with 20,000 items, site search, code components |
| Ecommerce Standard / Plus / Advanced | $29 / $74 / $212 | 500 / 5,000 / 15,000 items |
| Freelancer workspace | $16 | 10 staging sites, client payments, Shared Libraries |
| Agency workspace | $35 | Unlimited staging sites, 3 free client seats per site, roles and permissions |

Yearly platform cost for your client sites
Difference (Webflow minus Wix Studio)
$1,140
- Wix Studio per year
- $2,280
- Webflow per year
- $3,420
With a CMS, Webflow costs more ($25 a site plus the workspace, against $19 on Wix Studio); for static sites, Webflow's $15 Basic plan is cheaper per site. Ten CMS sites come to $2,280 a year on Wix Studio and $3,420 on Webflow with the Agency workspace. Either way, the platform bill is small next to the hours each site takes to build and maintain, which usually favors Wix Studio for small-business sites and Webflow for complex marketing sites.
Which should you choose?
Choose Wix Studio if you build lots of sites for small and local businesses, your clients need bookings, stores, events or memberships, you want client feedback and handover built in, and you'd like a revenue share from the platform.
Choose Webflow if you build brand, SaaS or marketing sites where design fidelity and motion matter, your clients have marketing teams publishing structured content, or your developers want React components, DevLink and code export.
Many agencies run both: Wix Studio for the high-volume small-business work, Webflow for flagship brand projects. Whichever you pick, it's hard to move a site between them later, so choose per client, not per trend. FAQ
Is Wix Studio better than Webflow?
Wix Studio is better for agencies building many small-business sites that need bookings, stores or payments, and that want built-in client feedback and handover tools. Webflow is better for design-led brand and marketing sites that need precise layout control, advanced interactions and a strong CMS for marketing teams. Neither is better for every project.
Is Wix Studio cheaper than Webflow?
For sites with a CMS, usually yes. Wix Studio site plans cost $19 to $159 a month billed yearly and the workspace is free; Webflow site plans cost $15 (no CMS) or $25 (with CMS) a month billed yearly, plus $16 or $35 a month for a freelancer or agency workspace (October 2026). E-commerce sites cost more on both.
Is Wix Studio good for SEO?
Yes. Wix Studio sites get the same SEO tools as other Wix sites: editable meta tags and URLs, an editable robots.txt, automatic sitemaps, a URL Redirect Manager, custom structured data and an AI Visibility Overview. In HTTP Archive data, 80.9% of Wix sites pass Core Web Vitals on mobile, against 71.3% of Webflow sites.
Which is better for design agencies, Webflow or Wix Studio?
It depends on the clients. Agencies serving small and local businesses usually move faster on Wix Studio thanks to native business apps, client kits and content-only editing. Agencies building brand and SaaS marketing sites usually prefer Webflow for its design control, interactions and CMS, and its Agency workspace adds free client seats and client payments.
Can I move a site from Wix Studio to Webflow?
Not automatically. You rebuild the design in Webflow, import CMS content by CSV, keep the same URL slugs where possible, and add 301 redirects in Webflow for any URL that changes before pointing the domain to the new site. Wix Studio sites also can't be converted into Wix Editor or Wix Harmony sites.
