How does the Page Inspector work?

Paste any public URL and we fetch the page, read its real text the way an AI crawler would, and send it to an AI model. You get the answer AI would extract, an extractability score, where your answer sits on the page, and specific fixes.

Why does the top of the page matter so much?

AI answer engines read and cite the top of a page far more than the rest — the bottom is rarely used. ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews behave the same way: they read the opening lines and move on. So your answer needs to be up top.

What should I do if my answer is buried?

Put the answer in your first two sentences. Say it straight, up top — then use the rest of the page to prove it with examples, numbers, and comparisons. That's the single highest-impact change for AI visibility.

What if my page is built with JavaScript?

Many AI crawlers don't run JavaScript, so content rendered only on the client can be invisible to them. If we detect very little server-rendered text, we'll flag it — that's a sign AI engines may not see your content at all.

Which AI engines does this reflect?

The same answer-engine behavior across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, and Google AI Overviews — all of which favor clear, top-loaded answers.

How is this different from a normal SEO audit?

Traditional SEO audits grade you for Google's blue links — meta tags, keywords, backlinks. This grades you for answer engines: whether an AI can find, understand, and quote your core answer. It's optimization for being cited, not just ranked.

How accurate is the extractability score?

The score combines how clearly your answer is stated, how high it sits on the page, your heading structure, and how much content is readable without JavaScript. It's a directional signal modelled on real AI citation behavior — not a guarantee, but a reliable guide to what to fix first.

Do you store the pages I inspect?

No. We fetch the page to analyze it in the moment and don't save its content. There's no signup and no email required to run a scan.

Will this improve my Google rankings too?

Often, yes. Clear, top-loaded, well-structured answers help both AI engines and classic search. But the goal here is specifically to get cited in AI answers, which is increasingly where discovery happens.

Is it really free?

Yes. The Page Inspector is a free tool from Outrank. No signup, no email required — just paste a URL.
