How Shopify Integration Works
The Shopify integration allows you to publish your Outrank articles directly to your Shopify store's blog. Once configured, articles are automatically published to your store as soon as they're generated.
Setup Instructions
Step 1: Install the Outrank App
- Install the Outrank app from the Shopify App Store:
- Click "Install" on the app page
Step 2: Authorize the App
- Review the permissions requested by the app
- Click "Install" to authorize Outrank to access your store
- You'll be redirected to the Outrank app in your Shopify admin
Step 3: Copy Your Access Token
- Open the Outrank app in your Shopify admin
- Navigate to the "Access Token" page
- Click "Reveal Token Once" to show the token
- Click the copy button to copy the token to your clipboard
Step 4: Create Integration in Outrank
- Navigate to your Outrank dashboard
- Go to Articles → Integrations and click "Create New Integration" button
- Select Shopify from the available options
Step 5: Connect Your Store
- Paste your Access Token in the provided field — your store will be automatically detected
- Select the blog you want to publish articles to
- Enter the author name for your articles
- Choose your preferred publishing status (Publish or Draft)
- Click "Create Integration" to complete the setup
Publishing Options
Publish Immediately
Articles are automatically published to your Shopify blog as soon as they're generated in Outrank. No manual steps required.
Save as Draft
Choose to save articles as drafts for review before publishing. Perfect for stores that require editorial approval before content goes live.
Troubleshooting
"Invalid access token" error
Ensure you've copied the entire access token from the Outrank app in your Shopify admin. Try copying it again and make sure there are no extra spaces. If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the Outrank app to generate a new token, then recreate the integration.
No blogs appearing in the dropdown
Make sure your Shopify store has at least one blog created. Go to your Shopify admin → Online Store → Blog posts → Manage blogs to create one.
Articles not appearing on store
Check your integration settings to ensure articles aren't being saved as drafts. Also verify that your blog is visible on your online store.
Featured images not showing
Verify that your Shopify theme supports blog featured images. Some themes may require additional configuration to display article images.
App not appearing in Shopify admin
Make sure the Outrank app is properly installed. Go to your Shopify admin → Apps to verify the installation. If not visible, try reinstalling from the App Store.
Connection timeout errors
This may occur if your store has a large number of blogs or products. Try again after a few minutes. If the issue persists, contact support.
Security & Best Practices
- Keep your access token secure and never share it publicly
- Use draft mode if you want to review articles before they go live on your store
- Regularly check your Shopify admin for any app updates
- Consider setting up proper staff account permissions if multiple people manage your store
- Review published articles periodically to ensure formatting matches your store's style
